Another disappointing experience with Selina. For the high price point, the overall standard of cleanliness in both the bathrooms and shared kitchen was shockingly low. What truly left me with a bad impression, however, was a serious safety concern. A massive tree branch fell onto one of the yoga platforms, completely collapsing the roof. My boyfriend had been working out on that very platform just an hour earlier, and I was on my way there for a yoga session there when I discovered the damage. The lack of proper maintenance around the grounds felt not only careless but potentially dangerous. This incident could have ended much worse. I'd recommend staying at Wao Venao instead, where you get a better experience for the same price point.

The entire room was filled with water, the bed was completely broken on one side. Shared bathroom and toilet were dirty. The value for money was not matching since it was still pretty expensive for private room but shared facilities. Could only pay in cash, no flexibility

We had a very bad stay, since the private bungalows smell terrible & the whole floor was full of water all the time. When we asked for another option, they wanted to charge us a much higher price difference than the actual price on the Booking-App. Our room was 83€ per night; two small bungalows for 1 person each would cost 102€ on Booking, so it‘s 19€ difference in total. They offered us the switch for 50€ more, so it would be 130€ actually! Since there was a festival next door, all the night people were walking around singing & screaming. Even with ear plugs it was impossible to sleep. We are not faint-hearted and we stood in many hostels (also party hostels & dorms) in our travel, but this was by far the worst Hostel for both of us. Also it’s very expensive. I‘ve slept in much better accomodations for like 10% of the prices here. But: the good thing about this accomodation is definetely the location. It‘s really close to the Beach but you still have a jungle-vibe, because it‘s located right to the river within the forest. So if you don‘t need any comfort or sleep, it‘s at least nice located.

We had a few bumps at the beginning, as we were moved from Selina Beach to River due to AC malfunction, and yet there was a large water leak in the room (305) at the River. However, the location is quiet, the restaurant (Almendro) is excellent and the overall vibe is very good.

This exceeded my expectations given what we had heard about Selina hostels. We stayed for 5 nights and were very happy with this spot. It is well located for where the better surfing spot is in the bay (the spot for beginners is very close to the other Selina but the better spot for more experienced operators was down a path from the hostel). I booked it thinking ‘oh well, I’d rather take a more chill hostel and have to walk a big to the surf’, but it is actually in a great spot and also away from the noise on the main strip. The pool was really nice, the property was really nicely landscaped and the restaurant was good. They offered a daily cleaning service, which to be honest was pretty good for what we were paying. There was a live cockroach in our shower though, so be prepared for things like that, as it wasn’t the cleanest place I’ve ever been. The staff member that welcomed us was really nice and even upgraded us from our shared bathroom private room to one with its own bathroom, which we appreciated.
