The hostel was a pretty good stay overall. Only con is that you really do need a moped or something to get around, it was kind of annoying that due to the location of the hostel we'd have to go all the way around (5-10ish minute ride) just to get back. Other than that the pools were amazing and great coworking space.

This Selina was across from Playa Z, where there was a good view from the 3rd floor. The layout of this hostel is very confusing, especially if you were looking for a particular room or event such as yoga or massage during your stay. They provided water jugs around the property so guests can refill their own bottles, which was a great concept if you don't mind the taste. I stayed for 2 nights in a private room with private bath. Every morning, I woke up to a bad sewer smell. The room itself was clean and had towels and soap. I asked for a hair dryer upon arrival and checked back every day. They finally told me they only had 1 and the person who borrowed it has not returned it. Come on! You're a big hostel chain and can only afford 1 hair dryer?!? The staff/customer service was so so. They just provide the minimum information. Some previous reviews have mentioned bias treatment if you're local traveler vs. international traveler-may hold truth. It's always a plus if you speak the local language, but unfortunately, some of us haven't gotten around to it yet!

I had a really bad experience with Selina Puerto Escondido. They canceled our booking on the same day we were supposed to check in, saying the room we booked 3 months ago hasn’t existed for the past 7 months. This left us scrambling to find a new place to stay at the last minute during high season. To make it worse, Selina didn’t offer any help or alternative solutions, just telling us everything in Puerto Escondido was fully booked and it was “our problem.” The lack of customer service and support was shocking. While Selina is a nice chain I’ve stayed with many times before, this experience was unacceptable. Leaving us stranded an hour before check-in and forcing us to book a room at more than double the price, plus all the extra hassle, was a terrible experience I wouldn’t recommend.

VERY UNORGANIZED HERE. I booked a room for a week for New Year’s Eve through booking dot com It was APPROVED by Selina And then the morning of my flight, I received a message that my stay is cancelled. Oh good news you get a refund. I don’t want a refund, I want a place to stay. That’s why I reserved this room a month ago! They are taking zero responsibility and saying the room doesn’t exist. Then why has it been on booking for over a month? They seem super disorganized and not accountable

I don’t recommend!! The overall vibe of this place is run down. No air conditioning in cinema room and in bedrooms it’s weak. No towels to rent. The kitchen is ill equipped for a stay longer than a night or two. You have to borrow a plate and fork every morning (???) The WiFi is patchy. I have stayed in other selinas - the different between sayulita is ten fold and I wouldn’t recommend any long term rentals here.
