The location of the hostel is convenient and in front of a beautiful street : close to the city but also far away enough to have some privacy. The main pool and garden make you feel you are hidden in a secret paradise. Unfortunately the rooms did not meet the expectations you have for the price you pay and they do not clean the room often (they did have us clean towels though). I think they were changing the restaurant so they did not have a lot of options for dinner and the bar closed very early.

Breakfast quality is extremely poor and the service is unacceptably slow, we sat at a table which remained dirty and with remains of othe people’s food for half an hour, until we had to speak up to a waiter. When the food arrived we had no cutlery and no coffee for 10 minutes, so we could only stare at the food and wait for someone to do their job. The reception service was pretty bad too in my experience, we neeed a fresh towel because we dropped one on the floor of the sauna, which was extremely dirty and stained the towel right away. All we got was a “We have no fresh towels” followed by an uncomfortable silence and the answer that the “sauna floor is actually clean, the people who make it dirty”. Shared kitchen had no cutlery to be used and it’s disgustingly dirty, same can be said about the shared toilets that have mold and lack toilet paper. I’m sorry, but if I’m paying more than 450 reais per evening to stay at a Selina hotel, I expect much more than what I experienced in my 2 nights.

I don’t recommend this “hotel”. They didn’t clean the room everyday, also didn’t clean my colleagues rooms everyday. Items thrown away by hotel staff from the community refrigerator, even though they were clearly marked. Maybe the staff didn’t throw away, but took it.. The service was sub standard for Brazil.

Sadly a little disappointing. The place is beautiful but it’s clearly in the wrong hands. I think gringos founded this place and handed it over to local management and it became local. So it’s not cleaned well, restaurant sells the worst quality drinks and coffee, and there’s a guy who mincing around all arrogant while failing to serve customers. It’s one of those places - they will always have another tourist next so why try.

Clear that Selina is more focused on expansion than quality. The property is very neglected. The staff is doing the best they can but it is apparent they have given up because they cannot help the poor quality of the rooms. Water was leaking through the walls leaving large puddles in the rooms and bed sheets wet from the rain. The room smelled horrible and of mold. Bathrooms are not cleaned, even though this was to be done daily they missed days. Some rooms in the property should not be rented until renovated. Also not a very social hostel, activities were not being held and there were no welcome drinks. The only positive worth mentioning is the breakfast was great and the staff was at least friendly.
