Booked a private room with a shared bathroom. And while I enjoyed my stay, especially with its strategic location near bars/pubs and restaurants, there were a couple things that I had experienced which made my stay not as pleasant. For starters, the noise at night. If you don’t have any noise canceling headphones or earplugs, forget it. You’ll have to wait until 1 or 2 am to finally go to bed. Room service only stopped by my room once to clean and change my linen. They have a restaurant, but during my stay, I had noticed that it was only open one time. Also, there were no drinks stocked at their reception. And for backpack travelers who like to participate in group activities, I didn’t see any gatherings(though I DID see posters for group activities, so your mileage may vary). Overall, while I did have a couple issues, I would stay there again as it’s a budget friendly accommodation.

I had a great stay at Selina Madalena. Located within walking distance to great places to eat, I cannot complain about its location. I did not have a reservation when I arrived late at night but luckily I was able to book a private room at $40usd/night. As you can see from the pictures attached, the view and the room decoration are worth the price. Wifi and A/C worked perfectly throughout my stay. The front desk agents are also very knowledgeable about São Paulo and Brazil in general. Do not hesitate to ask them question! They are extremely friendly. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here. It was a pleasant experience.

An OK place to stay for a good price, location is amazing, just a bit noisy due to the parties, and the room was clean, but the toilets not so much. Breakfast was nice :)

The region is pretty good. Lot of bars, restaurants and coffee shops. Also easy to get Ubers in and out. But, unfortunately, the room and service made the hotel not worth the price. The single rooms do not have a good sound isolation, so the sounds from the bars around and from the hotel itself makes it harder to sleep, noise cancellation headphones are a must. In the third day the air conditioning stopped working, after I mentioned it at the reception the unit was restarted but only with ventilation mode, not cooling. Which, for São Paulo heat, was not great. Also, I stayed in a long stay and had to ask 4 times for my bed sheets to be changed before they got actually changed. Also, no soap in the shower, when I asked for a refill they removed the one from the sink. The reception workers were kind, but I got the impression that they are not able to help the guests that much. I booked with the goal to have coworking and bed in the same space but, in the future, I believe I will book stay elsewhere if I ever rebook the coworking.

(+) Good decoration, new and clean (+) Loud music/DJ on the weekend (which some people might find a disadvantage too if you are not a party person) (-) The toilet + shower for the whole floor is only one. Sometimes it smells and dirty and it is not cleaned every day (2nd floor) (-) I have been staying here for more than a week and my room has not been clean for almost 4 days. . PS. I always put the sign to clean the room on the door. I would suggest for the hospitality industry to be more professional in handling clients. At the end of the day, it is about client service.
